Sam works in an office. Every day, he uses SuperCalc to do his job. He manages a lot of spreadsheets. Sam is good at it. He knows all the buttons, and his work is always fast.
One day, his boss tells him, “We are getting a new version of SuperCalc.” Sam is worried. “Why do we need a new version?” he thinks. “The old one works just fine.”
When the new SuperCalc comes, Sam opens it. Everything looks different. The buttons are in new places, and some commands are gone. Sam is frustrated. “I don’t know where anything is!” he says.
For the next few days, Sam tries to work, but it takes him longer to do simple tasks. He can’t find his favorite shortcuts. “This new version is slow and confusing,” he thinks.
Sam talks to his coworker, Jill. “Do you like the new SuperCalc?” he asks. Jill shrugs. “It’s okay. I just had to learn a few new things,” she says.
Sam frowns. He does not want to learn new things. He misses the old SuperCalc. “Why can’t they just leave it alone?” he complaints.
