37. A Tired Woman

Anna was tired. She worked long hours every day. She worked at a small grocery store. She stood behind the counter, ringing up items and talking to customers. Her feet hurt, and her back ached. Every day felt the same. She woke up early, went to work, and came home late.

One afternoon, as she rang up groceries for an older woman, the woman smiled and said, 'You’re always so kind. You must really like your job.' Anna smiled back, but inside, she felt a little sad. She didn’t hate her job, but she knew she didn’t love it either. She wanted something more, something that didn’t leave her feeling so tired every night.

Anna lived alone in a small apartment. After work, she would eat dinner quickly and go to bed. She was too tired to do anything else. She wanted a better job, but she didn’t know where to look. She felt stuck.

One night, she sat on her couch, staring at the TV. She wasn’t really watching it. She was thinking about her life. Could things get better? She didn’t know, but she hoped they would. She decided to look for new jobs tomorrow. Maybe, just maybe, she could find something that would make her happier.
