46. King Arthur

King Arthur was a great king of Britain. He lived a long time ago, during a time of knights and magic. Arthur was brave and kind, and he wanted to unite the people of his kingdom.

One day, there was a problem. The people did not know who should be the king. To find the true king, they needed to pull a sword from a stone. The sword was magical. Many strong men tried to pull it out, but no one could.

Then, young Arthur came to the stone. He did not think he could pull the sword out. But when he tried, the sword came out easily. The people were amazed! They knew Arthur was the true king.

As king, Arthur wanted to create a group of noble knights. He called them the Knights of the Round Table. They sat at a round table because everyone was equal. Among them were brave knights like Lancelot, Gawain, and Percival.

King Arthur and his knights went on many adventures. They fought for justice and protected the weak. They searched for the Holy Grail, a magical cup that could heal anyone.

But not all was well. King Arthur faced challenges, too. His trusted knight, Lancelot, fell in love with Guinevere, Arthur’s queen. This caused great sadness and conflict in the kingdom.

In the end, King Arthur fought against his enemies. He showed great bravery in battle. But during a final battle, he was wounded. As he lay on the ground, he asked one of his knights, Bedivere, to return Excalibur, his magical sword, to the Lady of the Lake.

After Arthur’s death, many believed he would return one day. People remembered him as a great and noble king who brought peace to the land. The legend of King Arthur lived on, inspiring many with tales of bravery, love, and honor.
