32. Why Do People Divorce?

Mr. Davis is a divorce lawyer. Every day, he talks to people who want to end their marriage. He listens to their problems and tries to help them.

One day, a friend asks him, “Why do people get divorced?”

Mr. Davis thinks for a moment. “There are many reasons,” he says. “Some people stop talking. They argue and don’t listen to each other. When they stop talking, they have problems.”

“Some couples fight about money,” he says. “One person spends too much, or they lose their job. Money problems can make people unhappy.”

He adds, “Sometimes, people just change. They don’t love the same things anymore. They grow apart.”

Mr. Davis knows divorce is hard. “It’s not easy,” he says. “But sometimes, it’s better for both people. They want to feel happy again, and staying together doesn’t make them happy.”

His friend says, “That sounds sad.”

Mr. Davis smiles a little. “Yes, it can be sad. But it can also be a new start. After divorce, people can start over and find happiness again.”
